With a simple donation of their gently used uniforms, health care professionals in Prince George have the chance to help a CNC student pay for his or her education.

The College of New Caledonia’s Health Sciences department is once again hosting its biannual scrub drive. Donated scrubs will be sold in a scrubs sale, for $5 each, with all the money raised going towards bursaries for health sciences students in need.

“It’s such a simple thing to donate your old uniform, but it can make a huge difference for our students,” says organizer and CNC nursing instructor Nancy Esopenko. “The used scrubs are really affordable too, and anyone – students or community members – can buy them.”

Every year, CNC awards five ‘Making a Difference’ bursaries of $250 each to health science students in need. And each scrub sale can raise up to $750.

“This year, our supplies have dwindled and we really need donations of uniforms sized extra small, small and medium,” says Esopenko. Please donate if you can! It’s worth it.”

Used scrubs can be dropped off between Monday, September 11 and Monday, September 25 at two locations: the CNC Prince George campus library and the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation’s downtown office at the University Hospital of Northern BC.

The scrubs sale will be on Thursday, September 28th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Gathering Place in the main building in CNC’s Prince George Campus.

To date, CNC’s biannual scrub sales have raised nearly $10,000.
