The Status of Women Committee from the Faculty Association at CNC are sponsoring Artful Women Celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD) at the Artspace (above Books and Company) on Monday, March 7th from 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Between 7:00 – 8:00 p.m., women representing First Nations, the CNC Students’ Union, international communities, and the local arts will offer greetings, short messages, and song. There will be hands-on activities and food and refreshments to follow. Attendees will be able to learn to knit, do some group art, cut a lino block print, stitch a panel for an IWD community quilt, explore the artspace shops, relax with an in-chair massage, take a photo in suffragette costume, and enjoy some incredible art displays by local women.
“This event is a community celebration, showcasing the artistic talent and creative spirit of many local women,” said Anna Mclauchlan, one of the organizers. “As in many other professions and occupations, women’s contributions to the arts are exciting, inspiring and empowering.”
Everyone is welcome to attend this free event, which is being supported by the Artspace businesses and many local women.
